Morphological, Anatomical, Physiological and Gene Expression Changes of Some Olive Varieties Under Dehydrated Stress

Olive (Olea europaea L.), is one of the most important fruit tree plant species of the Mediterranean region. Dehydrins, the expression of which is developmentally inducible. The process and environmental stresses that lead to cell dehydration have important functions in response to various stress factors.

Although olive genomes have been published, there is very little information about Dehydrins in this species. In this study, a 90-day drought trial was conducted using two-year-old crops of four olive trees. Varieties (Manzalina, Ayvalık, Domat and Kilis Yağlik). For this purpose, olive seedlings are exposed to water stress for 45 days, followed by olive seedlings exposed to water stress for 45 days post-stress period,

the growth room. To determine the gene expression changes, total RNA was extracted after 15, 45 and 90 days of drought treatment, as well as from leaf samples.

the post-treatment period of 15, 30 and 45 days and the Dehydrin genes were analyzed in comparison with q-RT PCR. In addition, leaf relative water content, leaf water potential were studied.
